| Hey all!
The time has finally come for me to switch blog names.
My new xanga blog is called A "History of Tomorrow" I will also be posting on a blogger blog of the same title.
I know I need to improve my writing ability and speed and the only way to do that is to write. My goal is to post something every day and I would appreciate your comments.

| Well folks. Today is my birthday. I am told it is my "golden birthday" since my age and the date of my birth line up. That's right, today is Oct. 23 and I am 23. I've come a long way in these one score and three years, and all credit must be attributed to the Grace of God.

Life for a VBS volunteer is hard. Being tackled by rambunctious
boys is not always as fun as it looks. Actually, let me take that back, it is
as fun as it looks. There is a fine line that must be walked between being an
authority figure and at the same time, a companion. I am locked in a struggle. When some leaders
want to keep the kids quiet when marching I want to lead them in a song at earsplitting
decibel levels. The program progresses
well so far as around thirty kids attend.
VBS takes place in the morning and then we go door-to-door
in the afternoon. This area of the country is sometimes referred to as the “Bible
belt.” Pastor Parnell said it really should be called the “Bible Inoculation Belt.”
Almost everybody we talked to said the had a church but when asked basic
questions about Christianity (i.e. Who is Jesus to you, or do you believe there
is a heaven or a hell) they could not answer correctly. Some answers were
downright scary. One lady I talked to said she went to a Methodist church but
when questioned on heaven and hell she said that she believed in reincarnation
since “one just does not seem like enough.” Another lady said she went to
church but that she did not really believe in the bible literally and did not
really believe in Jesus. I guess I have been spoiled by good preaching for so
long I forget that there are a lot of churches that do not accurately teach the
Gospel.

| Everything you have heard about Oklahoma is true. Hot, flat, and red.
The mission team is going well. We have spent the past few days painting the church office and distributing flyers advertising the upcoming VBS next week.
Today we are going camping and repelling down south a bit with a bunch of people from the Church.
More updates to come! (crossed fingers)
Oh, and that song from the Rogers and Hamerstin musical.... Its the state song. They sang it at the fireworks show on the fourth.
